failed emission- no stored data

My 2001 Jimmy V6 failed my emisssions test today and the reason was no data stored. They said I would have to drive for 100 miles or so, the kind of response you get when to throw a code, disconnect the battery to erase it and then just drive up for your test. The only problem is I haven't thrown a code or disconnected the battery since I changed engines back in May. Run an engine with 150,000 miles without oil for a half mile and you too can experience epic fail :shakehead. But I'm thinking that is where my problem lies. Found a nice motor with 78,000 miles from a Silverado. Still it was a pretty traumatic experience for the vehicle (didn't realize there was a bracket attached to the back of the head that holds the fuel lines. After much yanking and hoisting with the engine hoist to no avail, then I saw the damn bracket, needless to say hooking up the fuel lines again took forever after being stretched to the max.:banghead:). After getting by that debacle, the rest of the project went smooth, almost too smooth. Like I said, never even threw a code. Pretty damn sure no extra wires floating around unattached to anything. Anybody got a clue!! Also, anyway to check for stored data when it is time to go back? Don't want to lose my 2nd chance at the test (the "free pass") if I don't get any suggestions here and just go ahead and put the 100 miles on try again.

Did you drive a very short distance to the emissions test? The only thing I see is maybe one of the emission readiness tested didn't run. Then only one shown is the air injection. Does the truck have air inj.? Just sounds like to me they are being picky or don't know what they're doing.

I've used this garage for quite a few years now and have had 6 different vehicles tested there during this time period including having brought this one there, this being the third time. I travelled the same 12 mile route there every time. This is the first vehicle that has ever failed. I don't know if there is some kind of computer reset that needed to be done when I swapped out the engines or what. From what I gather, it sounds like this thing isn't recognizing any signals coming from the engine?, yet it doesn't throw a code for that either? I'm dumbfounded. None of you engine swappers have every experienced anything like this?

Your problem lies in "Readiness Result:FAIL". Secondary Air System:NOT READY When they test your vehicle, the first thing they check is I/M readiness. If all monitors have not run and completed their test, it's an immediate FAIL. If you connect your scan tool and check "I/M readiness" you'll see that it reads "not all monitors are complete." The OBDII system monitors several systems, some constantly, some once each drive cycle, and some once each drive trip. To satisfy the I/M readiness, all monitors must run and complete their test. Each monitor has a certain set of conditions that must be followed EXACTLY or the test will not be completed. Therefore, it is possible to drive the vehicle indefinitely and certain monitors may never complete their test. The ECM will attempt to run each incompleted test until it completes its test. Here is the GM drive cycle, they claim it can be completed in 15 minutes. Mind you, if you've done it many, many times, you MIGHT complete it in 30 minutes. You don't need to run the entire drive cycle, you can "pick and choose" which monitors you want to run by following the conditions EXACTLY. Check the I/M readiness and see what monitors are not complete and run them.
