1995 Cutlass Supreme doesn't start

Hi all- The hen took the car to town today to see the grandkid. Started fine and then when she went to leave.. nothing. The dash lights come on, it chimes but when she turned the key nothing. Not even a click. New battery, alternator light never came on. All fuses ok but didnt check under the hood. Is there a main relay that might have went out? How about the ground on the starter? Did have a problem with the door locks before but pulled the fuse to disable the motor. Someone told me there is a chip in the keys in this car that might have gone out somehow. Does anybody have any other ideas as to what might be wrong?

Does the security lite on the dash stay on?

Everybody overthinks this one. My experience has shown that 90% of the time its caused by a ratty connection at the battery or the starter. Check, clean and tighten these and get back to us.

Agreed on the battery connections, but noting the new battery one hopes the connections would be clean and tight

Just talked to my mechanic who is looking at it. He says it is something to do with the security system. Does anybody have any knowledge of what might be going on here? Is it a chip in the key that has something to do with it?

"I wonder why I bought a Cutlass?"

Ok now my mechanic says the thing is possessed. He puts in the key and turns it. One time he has the radio and the next time he has no radio. I pulled the fuse to the door locks about a week ago to stop the lock motor from running while driving. If this is a security issue, does this have something to do with it? Help!!! We tried all three keys that came with the car. All have the chips, but no different from key to key.

There is no quick answer here, it could be the wires for the VATS are broken at the ign key switch, do a site search for vats bypass.

ok- my mechanic tore apart the dash and found some wires that were burnt. The car now runs but the security light still stays on. Any thoughts?
