2002 MC SS keeps cutting off 99,000 miles

Just put a new fuel filter in about 4 months ago. When it gets a little warm, it won't respond to me hitting the gas (I was doing 70 last time) then it shuts off as I slow down. I can start it back up but it soons shuts off again. Crankshaft position sensor? My buddy said that. Amy ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thx.
