I was driving my 03 focus when it suddenly died after going around the corner. My first thought was that I tripped the intertia switch. Checked that and it was good. I'm getting fuel and spark. For some reason when the engine is cranked, instead of drawing air into the intake, it's getting pushed out. I don't believe that cat is blocked, air is getting pushed out the back. I have no clue what wrong with it. Any help or suggestions will me much appreciated.
Thanks and God Bless.

your timing is off. hold a dollar bill or paper by the edge to make sure what way the air is flowing, but I'd bet your timing belt or tensioner died. when the belt breaks, it cranks real fast. how many miles do you have? pop off the valve cover, if you can move the belt (tension wise) it's garbage.

That's what I'd put my money on. The timing belt is broken or the teeth on it are stripped.

I have an 03 Focus that won't start as well. Vehicle got to the point of not starting once a week. Boost from another vehicle seemed to get it started. I replaced the battery about 6 weeks ago. After about a month the same problem resumed. Now the car sits in my driveway (for the last week) unable to start.
Fuses check good. Battery checks good with 12.5 VDC. Solenoid clicks once with each Turn of the key. Lighting comes on bright and ABS engages with turn of the key.
Vehicle has over 100k miles
Any thoughts??
