I have a 1994 Pontiac Grand AM with a 2.3L DOHC Quad 4 engine. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this car, I have had it for 6 months with no issues at all. I went out to take my son to school yesterday morning and all was fine as usual. I came out to go and pick him up 6 hours later and it wont start. Makes the noise like its supposed to just doesn't turn over? What in the world can happen to a car in 6 hours of sitting in a driveway? It has gas, battery is fine, all the lights come on like they are supposed to, just wont start? Someone please help me!

still think it is the battery,

- try this: turn key to on position and turn on wipers see how fast they move if they move at all.

Windshield wipers move like normal, it is not the battery. I have been cranking that thing and checking it for more than 24 hours now, the battery would be super dead by now if it were weak.

I dont want to be the bearer of bad news, but you may have a bad timing chain. Lets hope not. If it is and you cranked the engine it now will need a rebuild or new motor. The 2.3 DOHC is an interference engine and if cranked with a bad timing chain it wrecks the valves and possibilities of damaging top of piston.

Is it turning over fast like there is no chance of it starting?

Nope, not making that timing chain spinning sound. I'm thinking its a sensor or the ICM because there is no fire.

do this:

check battery connectors are they tight and clean?
check battery voltage it should be 12.6V = 100% full
check coolant level (low coolant level sometimes can cause no start due to coolant not reaching ect sensor in the block so that pcm (power control module or car computer) does not know for how long to keep injectors open during start up)
check oil level (low oil level can cause no start since low oil pressure will disable fuel pump)
check all wires and connectors under the hood visually
check injector and fuel pump fuses
when you turn the key to on position do you hear pump working (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)?

I have done all those things ( I even checked for spark which is not an easy feat for a girl who sees no plug wires or distributor cap)....lol, but I got it done and there is spark but not blue, more of a yellow? and I must admit that I do not here the pump come on when I turn the key to the on position. So my next thing is to spray some starter fluid into the throttle! :-) I think I may be on the right track!

You are very good then if you can check for spark :) did you check pump and injector fuses?

if you can reach under the car and hit the gas tank couple of times just to wake up the pump a little see if it makes the difference. I know it sounds funny to you but that is how you do it.

I convinced my neighbor (old man neighbor must love to see me coming across the yard to talk him into turning the key over while I do random things to this car!) to turn the car over while I beat on the tank with a rubber mallet and it STARTED! This means I need a new pump right? Now I am going to be learning how to drop a tank and replace a pump! lol.... I WILL get my car running no matter what it takes!
