1994 Lesabre - stalled, gives code P0341

Hey guys. I'm hoping that you guys can help me out here. I have a 1994 buick lesabre with 160k miles. Last week, my car starting running rough one day w/ the RPM dropping down intermittently. At first, it would only happen when I'd press on the gas. A few miles later, it was also doing it at idle, and then got to the point where the car just stalled. When I'd try to restart, it would just stall again, with the check engine light coming on at one point. Interestingly, I waited about 15 minutes, and then the car started up just fine and I was able to make it home.
I pulled the engine code, and it showed p0341, which is a code for either the camshaft or crankshaft position sensor. Based on my reading on this forum, I decided to get the crankshaft position sensor changed out. It seemed to be running fine for a few days after.
Today, 300 miles from home and in the middle of a major highway outside of Philly during rush hour, my car starts doing the same thing again. I ended up stalling out, and I couldn't even get the car off to the shoulder of the road. (eventually the state police needed to push me off to the side with his cruiser)
The car is now at a mechanic's and he'll be checking it out tomorrow. Any ideas what the problem might be?
I've noticed that on both occasions, it happened on a rainy day. Yesterday, on a dry day, I drove 300 miles from Pittsburgh to Philly without any problems whatsoever.
The crankshaft sensor replacement didn't fix it. I know that these problems can also happen with bad ECM's, but I replaced mine about 6 years ago for similar stalling problems. Any chance that the ECM has gone bad again? Also, the throttle position sensor was replaced 1 year ago for similar problems... This is getting tiring.
Any help would be appreciated. Right now, I'm stuck in Philly and want to get home!

When it won't start someone has to check for spark and injector pulse as well as fuel pressure, all basic checks, usually the cam sensor will not cause the engine not to run at all.

The guy had the same problem with you, and he fixed it by replacing the crankshaft sensor. Good luck.

If I read the first post correctly, “The crankshaft sensor replacement didn't fix it”. :headshake As mentioned, this could be a fuel problem or spark related problem due to the ICM, or common grounds & wiring harness. Let's hope the mechanic you selected is a good troubleshooter and not just a parts changer! :runaround:

If I'm "the guy" being referred to here, I can assure you that in fact it WAS the crankshaft sensor replacement that took care of the problem with my '95. Few people have time to read the WHOLE thread, which is quite understandable...it's like Homer's Odyssey and was eventually locked (not sure whether to be proud of that fact). In the end I grew bitter over the fact that GM puts a CAM code up when the crank sensor is the real problem.
But hey, that car was tagged out forever a few months back when it got T-boned by a pickup, and it will never cause anyone any problems again. :cwm27:
Now if I can just figure out the electrical demons in my 2000!! All this talk about Lucernes and Lacrosses...hopefully Buick paid attention to knocking out some of their electronics problems, because one day I'll probably be driving somebody's leftover Lacrosse.
But hey, that car was tagged out forever a few months back when it got T-boned by a pickup, and it will never cause anyone any problems again. :cwm27:

I have a 1994 Buick LeSabre that periodically cuts out, stalls, surges. Sometimes it goes a long time without doing it. Twice today the Infl. Reset dash light blinked on and off which it has never done before. Could this be my problem and what does the light stand for? Also, there is black soot all around where I put gas in the car. What causes this?
