Hi guys, 4.0L, 170,000 mi. (upstate NY Jeep)
Heres my problem the oil filter adaptor on my son's 4.0l is leaking oil, we got a new gasket, but we could not remove the bolt holding it on, I've the right T-60 bit 1/2" DR., I evan tried a impact on it, bu it wouldn't budge eather way.
Anybody out there ever come across this prolbem, if so how did you remove it?
I do this for a living, and if push comes to shove I'll get new and then I know it'll come loose one way or the other. :sly:

How did you get a impact on the retainer? Those things are so close that you can hardly get a torx bit on it. I usually work them back and forth and usually they will come loose. Sometimes tapping on the side of the adapter helps. Hope you got the complete gasket set, should be 3 orings and a gasket.

Try using a large breaker bar or slip a pipe over the end of your ratchet for more leverage. Since the clearance is so tight (unless you removed the quarter panel) I used a pipe to get mine off.

sorry I didn't get back sooner
I just wiggled the gun around and it slipped in place, just lucky I guess
I haven't had a chance to get back to it, sons been out of work, so still waiting on parts. I'll let you know how I make out.
I appreciate your responses.
