Please help - Can't open door

Hi Guys,

I have a 1993 oldsmobile 88 royal. The passenger side door is stuck. I managed to get the door panel off, but fooling around didn't get it open. Someone said it's the latch, but they're not an expert.

Any ideas on what I should do?

If it will not open from the outside or the inside, I would guess that the lock is in the lock position. See if you can determine where the lock is on the latch and unlock the door. If its a manuel lock, follow the link down to the and try to help it up. If it is power, use your switch to see if it is working or not. Try that and let me know.

I looked at the latch on the drivers door. On that side, I can see a metal piece move up and down inside the latch when the mechanism outside makes contact with the bar attached to the frame of the car. However on the passenger side, where this piece would be is obscured by a white plastic piece.

Since I can move all the arms( door handle, key lock, inside lock, inside door handle ) and the door won't open, I guess the problem must be in the latch. On the passenger side, I can't identify any other moving parts to try moving.

Could I be missing something ?

If not what does one do when the latch is stuck?
