I have a 2000 Chevy Tahoe Z71 (old body style) and when i accelerate, it doesn't hesitate or anything, but it does not feel smooth.. Like i hit the gas pedal and it kind of.. slams forward i guess? I'd go to a shop and have them check it out but i just moved here to Fargo, ND and i tell you.. there's some janky shops in this city so I wanted to ask on here first. Oh and when i brake it does it too. It's smooth until i go from like 2 mph to zero. Almost like no matter how gradually i brake there's always that little slam when i come to stop. the problems don't seem like they'd be related, but maybe they are? Thanks for reading and if anyone needs any other details i could try to explain.

I got a couple ?'s.
1. At what speed does this happen under acceleration and does it do it whether it's light, medium or heavy throttle? Also what gear is the tranny in when this happens
2. When coming to a stop can you feel this in the brake pedal (ABS) or does the motor seem to lug down and then release (TCC)?
3. Have you put it on a scan tool that can access tranny and ABS modules for DTC's?
4. Are your rear brakes drum or disk?

1. It doesn't do it under EXTREMELY light acceleration. I'm talking like "dude, the light is green.. MOVE!!!" kind of accerleration. It happens from 0-1 miles an hour. Just when it starts going. So first gear i suppose, but it just doesn't feel like the transmission.. I'd say it feels like it's coming from the rear end.
2. I don't feel anything in the brake pedal, that's all good. no vibrations or anything. just kind of a clunk when it comes to a complete stop.
3. No, the problem just came up so i thought i'd go on here.
4. Rear brakes are drum

Inspect the rear brakes shoes and drums for excessive wear or out of adjustment.
Inspect U-Joints for wear.

It isn't the worst place to be. Just crawl under with the engine off and in park and see if you can rotate the driveshaft at all, if it moves its time to replace balljoints

Come on, you live in MN and go to school in ND, you better get used to cold weather and wind. My brother lived in SD and it was a windy and cold place in the winter, but a lot of good fishing
Good luck with your repairs
