Installing TB sensor 92Stang

I have a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder engine and was going to install a new tb sensor, but the repair manuel for the mustang said not to install a new one myself, but to get it done by a dealership because it needed to be calibrated. Just wondering if anyone could tell me if I would be able to do that on my onw. Thanks

When you say TB sensor, I'm assuming you mean TPS or throttle position sensor. It's pretty easy to do as long as you do it properly. The manually tells you to bring it to a shop cause its an electronic part that needs to have the correct voltage output set properly.

I believe the 2.3 is the same as the 5.0, but if I'm wrong, please someone correct me.

First you have to remove the old sensor and replace it with the new one. You will now need to measure voltage across the sensor. Using the Black and Green wire off the sensor, backprobe a multi-meter to those wires, green is positive, black is negative. You need to have a voltage reading somewhere around .94 and .98 volts, but do not exceed 1 volt. The readings must be done when the car is off, but key in the on position. To adjust the voltage loosen the 2 mounting screws and turn the sensor slightly to achieve the desired voltage.

Hope this helps.

That is how you do it. If the voltage is different for the 4-banger it will say what the voltage should be in the checking TPS sensor area of the book.

That's what I was unsure about. If the voltage is different, then just do the same thing for the correct voltage. But I think it should be good.
