Ok my soon to be wifes Blazer the radiator blew a seem about 2 or so inches below the upper hose. Now I wasnt to concerend on replacing it until I saw these weird conections on the transmission lines going into the raidator. Not sure what kind of tool I need to get this off. Did a little research on it and it seems a bit more complicated that just tightening a wrench on it. I will post a photo or two latter on in the week of said odd conction. Thanx!!!

round white plastic pulls back and there is a clip in the coupler and you just pick it out but be careful it has a way of going across the room and getting lost. it kinda reminds me of a retainer for a crank handle for a manual window

before reinstalling just put the retainers back into the couplers then push the lines in and you will here them click then slide the white plastic cover back over to keep the crud out

Get the special release tool for the transmission and the oil lines, much easier than picking them out with a pick. You can get the special release tool as a set at any parts store. You seat the tool in making sure it is flush and turn it in 60 degrees which the lines will come out.

Ok went to Autozone and asked about tool for the lines on the radiator to remove them. They didnt have a clue what I was talking about:screwy: So one guy gets one of the Chilton manuels out and couldnt find anything about it then got on the computer and looked on repair and it didnt say anything about it. I would load up some photos on here but everytime I try it says the filed failed so not sure what to due have to due a little checking to see what im doing wrong

Still cant figure out what im doing wrong on trying to add photos, anyway
the line on the passenger side seems to have some sort of cover with a small slot this does move freely around.

Now on the drivers side the line is totally different looks like 2 clips of some sort

A vist to Autozone was a total waste of time they had no clue what I was talking about and even a look in a Chilton manuel didnt help any or on their computer under repair section didnt say anything about how to get these lines off. I wish I could load up a photo so some could verify what I was saying on these lines. Or if someone whats to email me and I could send them the photos and they could upload them that would be fine with me. Thanks!!!

They are called jiffy-tite connectors. As was stated, you can get by with a right angle pick tool to yank the clips out. You can get replacement clips in the "help" section at AZ or at any NAPA. The clips are cheap enough that you could just get new clips and not worry about it. Come to think of it, your new radiator should already have the clips installed in it ready to go. I would say, get the radiator first, see if it comes with the clips and go from there. This system of clips makews it much easier in the "rust belt" to remove these lines without breaking them and makes it much easier to install them.
