Front Brake Sticking 1990

I have a 1990 Olds 88(110,000 miles), The Front Drivers Side Brake is sticking. After braking, the brake will release after a few seconds. The pads are about gone anyway so I'm going to replace them...Is it safe to say I should buy a new caliper while I'm at the parts store?. I read on a previous that the rubber hose that goes from the metal brake line to the caliper can be collapsed also.

To check this, crack the bleeder if the caliper releases, the hose is the issue, if not it is the caliper.

Thanks for the reply...Will I have to bleed all 4 wheels or just the
one where the hose or caliper is replaced?

Max didn't say to bleed the brakes.

The next time the caliper is stuck, just open than one bleeder screw on that one caliper. If you get a sudden spurt of brake fluid coming out AND the caliper releases, then you know the flex line has collapsed.

If very little or no fluid comes out AND the caliper still sticks, then you know the caliper is bad.

I understand. But, If I do have to replace the caliper or hose(open the system), will I have to bleed the brakes? If, so just that wheel or all 4. Thanks

No, make short work of hooking up the hose or caliper, leave the m/c cap on and lose as little fluid as possible, then only that wheel can has to be bled. I block the line with a golf tee inserted in the line.

If I were you I would do both sides at once. Usually if one is gone the other isn't far behind. Calipers and hoses aren't that expensive.

It was the hose.....fluid came out when I cracked the bleeder. Replaced the hose, bled the wheel...Brakes work much better now Thanks for your replies
