door ajar light

i have a 2002 ford explorer sport track. the door ajar lite is staying on and for some reason when the door ajar lite is on the door lock and door unlock buttons dont work either. im not sure where the door ensor is at any help at all would be greatly apreciated

The door switch is located on the inside of the door panel on the latch itself. Try spraying smle penetrating lubricant on the latch and see if it helps. Open and close each door a few times after you spray it.

If not, the switches are about 10$ and juist twist in to the latch.

i tried spraying that lub on the doors and open and shut them a few times. worked great door ajar light went out . yaaaaa went to drive it yesterday and door ajar lite is back on. can anyone tell me how to figure out which swith is the bad one.do u have to take the door panel off but is there a ci\onnector some where that i can put a test lead into?? thnks again for the help

Spray the doors again one at a time. Open and close the door until light goes out. The one that makes the light go out is the faulty one. It is usually just dirt that sticks the switch.

thnks for the reply but wht if the door ajar light doesnt ever go off. is there another way to tell if there is a bad switch with out taking every door apart. i took out the driver side switch to find that it was good. and more help would be appreciated.

The cheapest way is what you are doing. The quickest way is to have a dealer scan the modules to see which one is bad.

i found out finally that it wasnt the door switch at all it was the door latch. wasnt making contact on the switch.replacing the whole latch assy. found one at a auto recycling place here. cost of new was 140 dollars recycler price 30 dollars hmm i wonder which one ill buy lol thnks again for the help
