okay, everytime i hit a small bump in my 99 GASE2 at a low rate of speed, it sounds as if there is something rolling around. The sound seems to be coming from near the tire well, possibly near the struts. just wondering if anybody out there has the same experience as i...

I hada similar noise (sounded like it was between dash and front passenger tire). It almost sounded like the tire was going to fly off. Took it to shop, couldn't find the problem. I haven't heard the noise in a while now, it just sort of disappeared.........??????

Hi there. This is my first time using this forum, but it's pretty informative. I too can hear the sound, which does sound like it's between the dash and the passenger side wheel well. I've thought it was the CD player, things rattling in my glove box, but thought it probably had to be the struts. I bought my 2000 GA SE about a month ago, from a great place in Canada called Car Canada. They totally recondition the car and do a 144 point inspection. Anything wrong, they replace. The tires-brand new-still have the tire hairs. Brakes-brand new, and so on and so on. I wonder about little noises-are they because they are being broken in or are they just broken.
I also have a very annoying sound when I come close to a stop. The front end makes a sqweeking noise, but it sounds like when your suspension is shot. It's like the pedal is a big rod that is rusted or needs to be lubed. It's hard to explain. Any way, I love GA's no matter what anyone says, because every car is going to have problems, and I'd rather these little problems than the " Engine drops out when reaching 60 MPH" problem that I've heard about on the Ford Focus that I thought I wanted.

I have a similar problem when I come to a stop when applying my breaks...sounds like a creaking noise like a bad spring.

I have a 95 GASE, same creaking noise in front/driver side. Seems to be worse when cold, especially if wet and cold. I think bushings cause the problem, I'll let you know when I get it checked this week.

Ubart, Exactly what the hell spurred you to resurect a 2 year old thread? LOL. oh well - I would say lube your bushings / tighten all bolts on all your control arms and see if that helps any.

I'm new to this site, just bought the GASE a couple months ago, and of course am encountering the usual problems. I didn't check the date of the post, I was just interested in what was said. I'm surprised anyone replied, now that I know. Thanks .
I'll definitely try the bushings and control arm. That sounds about where it would be coming from.

I have that same problem on my 1996 Pontiac Grand Am. I have no clue what it is but it the noise comes from that same area.

If you have steel wheels with the plastic wheel covers they will make a "crack" sound in the front every time you hit a bump because they vibrate against the rims.
