Check your engine/tranny mounts. The entire assembly could be shifting during turns and creating the clunk.

Did you inspect, or replace the front strut mount bushings & bearings?

In order to find play in the ball joint, you need to jack the front tire/wheel up off the ground about 2-in and put a 4-6 ft pry bar (you can use the handle of a 3-ton jack) under the tire and pry up on the tire while watching & feeling for free movement.

Another way to check the front end is to lay on the ground with a light and have someone turn the steering wheel all of the way to the right and then all of the way to the left. Keep doing this, back and forth. If the ball joints are bad, you can see them move out of the socket when stressed all of the way left or right. You can also look at the tie rods for extra movement. It sounds like it is too dangerous to drive as is.
