How does the DIC MPG work?

Hey,
Does anyone know the logic used to calculate MPG on the DIC? Is it a moving average? Or does it start when you reset it and continually average all data from the reset point until it's reset again?

I think it is based on the average over time. You reset, and it continuously averages.
