97 Sunfire GT trans jumps out of 2nd gear

Hello,
Was wondering if anyone else had this happen and what the solution is.
My car shifts fine. Have all gears but it will stay in second gear under power, but as soon as you let off the gas it will jump out of gear. Only does this in 2nd and no other gears. I did notice that my trans mounts under the car are severely cracked and worn out. I was wondering if this could cause the shift linkage to go out of alignment enough to cause it to push it out of gear.
The other alternative is that the trans has a syncro gone and will no longer hold itself in gear. I am hoping the cheaper fix is the cause.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

First you have to fix the transmission mounts before you know what else is the matter. Probably the cracked mounts have permanently shifted the trans and the engine so the linkage is useless to go into 2nd gear, except when you push on the gas which realigns everything.

Well replaced the Transmission mounts and it is still doing it. So I figure either the shift fork is bent or something along those lines. sounds like it is gonna be expensive either way. Any other ideas???

Trans input shaft bearing and seal died. Have metal roller bearings in the trans and fell out the front when the trans was removed. It also coated the clutch in gear oil as well. so it took a used transaxle and new clutch kit to repair the issue. Fun project..
