Hello!
I have a 1999 Buick LeSabre with a 3.8l V-6 engine, 179,000 miles. I have noticed just lately when I put the car in reverse the engine runs strangely. I can start the car, no problem, runs smooth. I put it in reverse and the motor surges like it wants to stall. I put it in neutral, the surging ceases. I then put it back in reverse and no problems, smooth. This does not happen every time and there are no other performance issues. Other than the obvious, it has a lot of miles, do any of you have ideas as to why this is happening?
Thank you very much to all who reply!
Take care, Jack

It may be time to clean the TB, IAC, MAF & EGR if you haven't done so. Does this happen just when cold, or all the time?

Hi HotZ28!
You have been a huge help with my Camaro! I have posted in the Camaro post about an engine swap there.
I have just noticed this problem over the last two weeks and we (in balmy Cleveland, Ohio) haven't been that cold. 40's most nights, nothing to speak of. I will look into the items you mention to see if they are in need of TLC.
Thanks again Z!
