Hey guys,
I started a thread a while back which led me to the fuel pressure regulator. To recap, I have a fuel pressure issue, when I turn the ignition on, some times (more so when its cold outside) the fuel pressure will come up to about 18 psi, and it will crank but not start. And some times the fuel pressure will come up to 42 psi and it will start and run perfectly. In my efforts to fix this, I have changed the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, and fuel filter. I had an issue with the Hall effect sensor in the ignition, and got past that issue with help from here by adding resistance in the yellow ignition wire. With the security issue, the car would start, then quickly die. With this issue, I can't seem to find a reason the pressure is stalling at 18psi. If anyone has an idea as to why the pressure won't come up to the required 42 psi everytime, I would certainly appreciate your input...
Thanks again

Tom

Why is fuel pressure dropping?

The fuel pressure never drops off, it comes up to either 18 psi and won't start or it comes up to 42psi and runs fine...that is my dillema, I don't understand why its not coming up to correct pressure every time.. I hate intermittent problems!!!

But if it "comes up" than it had to of dropped?

good point. I was draining the fuel pressure guage after each run to get it to act up again, and didn't even think about that.

Does anyone know where the body control module is mounted? I just read some symptoms of a BCM failure, and it looks like I may be headed in the right direction!

Quick update
I found a service bulletin for the body control module which would cause a long crank cycle and no start condition when temp is below 60 degrees F. I went out this morning armed with the wifes hair dryer and my no contact thermometer, I tried it cold, no start. I then heated the BCM to better than 85F and ....still no luck. If anybody knows what part the security system plays in the fuel circuit, please inform me... I am going to try looking for a bad ground this afternoon.. I will let yall know when I figure this out.
