Well i have a few projects and so decided to put them all in one thread. Im building all golfs, well here we go what i have so far. Hopefully i can finish them this year. :grinyes:

First up is a Tamiya golf Racing group 2. I plan on making it a street version. So here are some pics.

Kit im using
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Model%20Kits/100_2100.jpg

What i'm trying to make it resemble.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Car%20Reference/jarods-mk1-1.jpg

Progress so far, its a old motorized kit. So i had to styrene and putty the rear section behind the seat. I painted it before, but ruined the paint job so i stripped it. I'm in the middle of rescribing it and hopefully laying some primer on soon. Im also going to put in the window frames i broke.

What wheels i plan on using, maybe ill go with some small BBS wheels like the 1:1
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Scale%20Model%20Cars/Volkswagen%20Golf%20Mk1%20Tune/100_2105.jpg

Next up is the Mk2 golf made by Revell. I also got the scale production t-kit for it.
Kit used:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Model%20Kits/100_2095.jpg

What im planning for it to look like:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Car%20Reference/2591288011_eaf4994e70.jpg

So far i fitted the bumpers and made some more copies of the t-kit as im going to build a few in the future. Progress so far.

Next up is a Mk3 Golf vr6 made by Fujimi. I plan on making it a 2 door version, or as us dubbers call them a 3 door. Its either going to be purple or a bumble bee version yellow, haven't decided yet.

Kit Used:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Model%20Kits/100_2091.jpg

What it might look like with some aftermarket wheels of course.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Car%20Reference/gtiparque.jpg

So far i cut out the windows and set them back in the body. I also shortened the c-pillars back. Sanded off the front license plate indent. Also shaved the front grill emblem. First couple coats of primer. Next up is scribing in the new panel lines for the doors. Also have to fix some of the flaws remaining.

Golf Mk4 is next. Tamiya golf V5 kit us being used.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Model%20Kits/100_2107.jpg

No progress of this one yet, but plan on starting on it this week. Below is my inspiration for it.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Car%20Reference/3661449631_74c1e03a30.jpg

Some of the wheel choices for this one and maybe the mk5.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Model%20Kits/100_2090.jpg

Fujimi Golf Mk5 golf is what im using on the next build.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Model%20Kits/100_2092.jpg

Not much done, just glued the sideskirts and test fitting the front bumper. Im waiting for the pe kit to come in. I sprayed the windows with alclad smoke, but no pic yet.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/100_2093.jpg

And hopefully what its going to look like when done.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Car%20Reference/2839283950_7b23d184b8.jpg

Lastly i have a build which should go in the motorsport section but since im building all golfs i decided to have it in this thread.

Kit is a motorized Imai Mk1 Golf.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Model%20Kits/100_2087.jpg

The kit is very simple, with a low parts count and simple design. No detail at all. I will post what the kit contains soon. So far i have painted the body with TS paints. Bright red, and pure white. Semigloss black was used for the trim and bumpers. I also have started to lay down the decals, which are aweful. I tried some microsol and it ruined one small decal so i have had to use the hot towel and hair dryer method. Also i plan on really weathering this one, its going to look like it played in the mud! :naughty:

Progress so far:

WOW great selection of models and wheels you have got there can't wait to see some of them finished.

One question for you though. Where did you get that trans kit with the MK2 bumpers and could you tell me what a general price is on those I could use a few of those kits I have 3 Mk2's I have yet to build because I don't like the small bumpers in the Fujimi kit or the sad excuse for a bumper in the revell kits.

Wow! You've got almost as many on the go at once as me! What did you strip the Tamiya Mk1 Golf with, it looks like it was tricky? I find a good long dip in auto brake fluid works a treat. Anyway, you've got lots of work to do, ooking good so far, look forward to more.

Scribed new panel lines for the doors, still a few flaws to fix and then it should get some paint.

A little more progress. I managed to outline the easiest and best way for me to cut out the trim and door handle. The other side had the same treatment and this is what it looks like after two coats of tamiyas 2-part epoxy. Front bumper license plate indent got puttied also. I plan on making a 20th aniversary front lip. More progress on that later.

This is the 337 (20th anniversary) gti. Im in the process of replicating the front lip (valence).
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/midmazar/Car%20Reference/3681476499_b07d846e65.jpg

This is my attempt. I used tamiyas two part epoxy putty. Two layers of putty and a little sanding. Next up is the two bars that go in the hole, and the rear deck lid (spoiler).

Let me know what you guys think. The pic doesn't do it justice, sorry for the pic.

Cannot wait to see progress on the MK5, especially as I've got the same kit here next to me waiting to be started!

Wow, you have got nearly as many on the go at one time as me! All look good, the 2 door conversions look like a challenge! Looking forward to more progress!

I have got the Fujimi Mk2 version and it is pretty good, is the Revell one the same or a completely different kit?

The only good thing in that kit is it has a motor, but everything else is horrible. Overall a nice kit, but a lot of fitment issues. Also the way certain parts go together makes me think a monkey did most of the thinking and work.

Id suggest only getting this kit for the motor and slap it into the fujimi.

I will post some more progress very soon.

Really, the Revell Racing one (that you have the Scale Production Transkit for) has a motor? I have never known a Revell kit to have a motor. I know the Tamiya Group 2 Mk1 kit originally had a motor and would have expected the Imai Mk1 to have one too.

I have a few of the mk1 tamiya golfs and they don't have motor detail. They have a real motor (motorized kit).
The esci mk1 on the other hand does have motor detail.

Ok, I now realise I was talking at complete cross purposes! When you said it had a motor I thought you meant it had an electric motor which I thought was strange, I didn't realise that when you said motor you actually meant the engine! I was being a bit of a dumbass! I forgot that across the pond you often refer to the engine as the 'motor'!

All perfectly clear now thanks!

Wow, I'm definitely subscribed to this one, I love GTIs and a project like this is something that I also want to do sometime, I already have the cars, I just need the time to build them, great job on the A3 transformation, I want to see the A4 transformation done too, did you checked the A5? Early versions have 2 door body with 4 door interior, LOL, Fujimi latter corrected this, but I'm not sure if it was for all versions.

Keep the good work!!
