Can't open back door (hatch back)

I cannot open the back door (hatchback) on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. All the other doors will unlock with the remote and with the door locks. It had been making a noise when I would use the locks and someone once said it could be the actuator??. What do you think and is there a way to manually open the door? Also the "flipper" window will not open either???
