93 Villager sliding door stuck

My sons decided that opening and closing the sliding door was great fun. After I put a halt to their frolick and merriment, I attempted to close the door, but it got stuck in a partially open position.

The door seems to be stuck at the latch, with about a 1/4" gap from the totally closed position.

Using a piece of wood, I tried to pry the door open, but it is jammed solid.

I believe the culprit, aside from my sons, is the lock mechanism, but the service manual I purchased at Pep Boys does not show me how to resolve the issue. The link to the FSM here begins with 1994, so thus this post.

Anyone able to provide me with directions or a link to directions on how to examine the lock mechanism on the sliding door? I am a pauper atm so paying to have this fixed is not in the budget. Any DIY suggestions are welcome.
