Cruise Control and Brake Control question

When I bought my 98 F150 a few months ago, the cruise control worked----now it dosen't. Its not something I use a lot in the city, so don't know exactly when it stopped working. The truck had an electric brake controller, which I removed cause it was ugly on the dash and I'd never use it. And I am wondering if the Cruise not working has something to do with my taking out the brake thing??? The controller had a real nice connector on it, and plugged in perfectly to the factory wiring. (could it have been a factory controller??). Maybe there is a jumper wire or a special plug I now need to use since I removed the brake thing??? Am I on the right track here or should I be looking elsewhere for my problem? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated

Take it to the dealer, there is a recall and you do not pay a dime for this.Leave the vehicle outside, there were lots of cases of them catching on fire burning houses down. You will probally get a recall letter from Ford on this

If the recall hasn't been done. If I remember right it was for the brake switch on the master cylinder, not the one inside the truck. Try reinstalling the brake controller and see if that fixes your problem. If so figure a way to get it out of sight with it still hooked up, it won't hurt anything.

Check your stop lamps. If they don't work the cruise won't either.
