xsara vts replace engine or break?

hey everyone, today after many years certain id never own a french car i joined the club! i bought a too good to be true xsara vts, 2.0 16v fast, fun, great handling, blew the engine!!!!:banghead:
induction roar big smiles:biggrin:, oily mess all over the road loud bang and glum faces!:disappoin
my dilemma now is whether or not to replace the engine or cut my losses and break whats left of it.
anyone want any parts, have an engine or any idea how much an x reg vts minus engine would break for, the cars in really good condition and im actually gutted, i fell for the little frenchie quite quickly and now im back scaving lifts, this is not a good day!:mad:
