Hello, I have a problem with my son's 97' LeSabre. It has been using a lot of oil. Last week my son got stuck, it wouldn't start. Had AAA check it out they said it was the starter, so they towed it to the house. After checking the starter, that was not the problem. I pulled the plugs and turned the engine over by hand. A good amount if oil came of the #1 cylinder, enough that it locked it up. I replaced the upper and lower intake manifold gasket. When I removed the upper, I had about a half a quart of oil in the lower manifold. It had leaked into the intake port on the #1. After I put it together the car ran good, but I had a coolant leak. So I took the upper manifold off to see where it was coming from. I noticed oil starting to build up in the lower intake again. Has anyone had this problem? Could it be more the the gaskets? I checked the PCV, it seems ok. I don't want to assemble this engine until I solve the problem. Has anyone any ideas? I'm stumped.

From what I have read, oil can come up into the LIM by way of the inner bolts that hold down the LIM. Last time I replaced my UIM and gasket, I noticed oil in the LIM of my 97. It wasn't near as much as you are encountering though. To lock up the engine like that, I would think there would have to be a more significant oil leak. Has the LIM ever been replaced?

I had the same issue, had to seal the 2 inner bolts in the lim, but not at lock engine volume.
