HOH what a collection you have Hurstg01! Superb! :lol2: Long time work and all those are super rare in to the future!

Well I really haven't that much things, but some. Of course the scale models are the biggest things I have bought. http://kuvablogi.com/blog/1949/73/ .
But also there is some VHS, DVD and some GULF press? cards and less and more luckyly got singature cards.

But the most valuable thing to my self is the self made binder. (Sorry if this is off topic, because it isn't bought stuff :disappoin ) Back then 95-97, I was just 16 years an old I loved to do things like this.

I cuted images of the magazines, printed them out of the Internet, put some glue and stick to clear A4 white paper and so on. Here is couple of shots of that binder, great to read now after over 10 years time.
Hope you like it!

This is the cover.

Yes, Yes Yes I am! And a GTR Fan!!!!! (Thanks for the help find the J.J's GTR's!)
First I loved the F1 roadcar, then I saw the GTR and then the LM and I was sold. :sunglasse And then some man from Finland; J.J Lehto made some motorsport history with GTR McLaren's, what more I could ask. :) Loved the car and what J.J done with those; it was brilliant! One of the greatest racing cars ever (incredible history) and Finnish driver, very skilled one, great!!!!

And the document what was new for me this week; I found the clips what I have been saw over 10 years ago, I had them a quicktime versions, but I've lost them. And now I finally got them back a full version! :sunglasse

Some VERY interesting objects here indeed!

Like most here I have assorted 'clutter' re: the F1. Magazines, Brochures, Press Packs, Books, Prints, etc.

I was offered a handbook and service book at one point in my early insanity, but the price was immensely scary, and I politely declined. Afraid I can't recall from which car.

My Scale Model collection has been my biggest investment as it started with one 1:43rd Minichamps Red Road Car, and has grown to maybe - never documented how many actually - 100(?) F1's of all scales 1:87 -1:12 and incarnations. Stuck WELL clear of the toys from Maisto and Guilloy however. Greg, having just lost your virginity to this disease recently, be warned of what's coming!

I think the most obscure thing I have is a postage stamp from some former Soviet country featuring an F1LM. Erik, can you recall which country? I think it was discussed - maybe scanned and posted - here in the past. Don't know where the bugger is now!

Sami ... what is it with the Finnish and the Scottish?

Such small nations, 5 million people (like my home nation, Scotland) and yet sooooooooooooooo many GREAT drivers in race and rally.

I'm afraid I can't spell Finnish. But you've had a huge amount of unpronouncable-named drivers!

Scotland has also brought forward names like Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, David Coulthard, Allan McNeish, Dario Franchetti, Colin MacRae, ettc.

Yep, somethings are quite strange, why this is like this? :)
Well most of the top Finnish drivers are rally drivers, they live Midlle-Finland where is nothing but woods and gravel roads, so it's easy to start hobby with rally cars. And also luck needed as well to get top of the world. But then there is J.J Lehto, Mika Häkkinen, Mika Salo, Kimi Räikkönen, Heikki Kovalainen and not to forget Keke Rosberg..... Same thing there Scotland, strange things these really, why so small nations but great drivers, no one can tell the reason, I think?

hurstg01

The pin was made to commemorate the F1 achieving the highest speed for a production road car making it the (then) World's Fastest car. I suppose 240.1mph wouldn't fit as well ;)

Yes, big thanks to Le Man as he spotted this one first and shot me the link knowing that I was eager to own the original content. :)

Even the text on the box is cool:

When the TAG McLaren directors gave their design team the brief for the proposed new 'supercar' it was straightforward in the extreme. It was to build a car that even the opposition would have to acknowledge as the best!

As you will see from this tape, McLaren Cars Technical Director Gordon Murray and his team succeeded. Perhaps even beyond their own wildest dreams!

Even though the opposition might not care to admit it publicly, by any yardstick the V12 McLaren F1 has to be rated as the best supercar yet to hit the road.

As proof, McLaren can quote, the world record 240.1mph top speed that you experience in this video, thanks to a thrilling on-board camera blast with Le Mans winnner Andy Wallace. No production road car has yet gone faster...and you're on-board at the max!

More evidence needed? How about a win in the Le Mans 24 Hour Race for the GTR version of the F1 in 1995? On its very first attempt at the French sportscar classic, no less!

Any way you care to examine it, the McLaren F1 can legitimately claim to be the ultimate supercar so far, and through this video you can see exactly how it was conceived, designed, built and tested. Much of the footage was actually shot during these processes by the McLaren design team and along the way we hear from McLaren Chief Executive Ron Dennis, designer Gordon Murray, stylist Peter Stevens and test driver Jonathan Palmer.

No other video has taken such an intimate look at the construction of a supercar. The fact that the subject of this one is generally acknowledged to be the best ever built makes this essential viewing for anyone who has ever understood the passion and power of beautiful fast cars.

It still puzzles me why McLaren felt the need to have these pulled from the shelves.

Even a book of the different GTRs chassis by chassis in a similar style that Bluemel/Pourret has made of the Ferrari 250 GTOs would a nice effort as now all that info and images are scattered around and also the current books and websites have much errors, so needs lots of cross-checking from various sources to have a continuous timeline for each chassis.

I guess McLaren themselves are not interested in doing such a book for some years now as they are now concentrating more on the MP4-12C. Still I'd hope they would do a 3rd edition of DA and correct many of the mistakes they have still in the 2nd edition, especially on the GTR/racing section. hurstg01 maybe could give us some inside of the Le Mans edition, if it still has the errors of 2nd edition?! E.g. many of the photos (2nd ed.) are from some other race than noted on the text, and not even the same year as noted. :nono:

Thankyou Erik, my pleasure :).

I find it rather cool, to own something that McLaren had pulled from the shelves. Duke Marketing once told me, that about eighty or so copies were never retreved, so it makes this piece of memorabilia extremely rare and valuable. This also applies to the Cotton GTR book. :grinyes:

Sami, your comments inspired me to search through lots of old VHS tapes which have been hiding in the back of a cupboard for far too long :nono:

So I have spent most of the weekend viewing with great pleasure :bananasmi all the Eurosport coverage of most of the BPR 95, 96 races and 96 LeMans plus some 97 clips. Some really excellent and rare footage of all the GTR,s in action. Which brought back some fond memories of actually being at some of those races at the time.

All this content needs converting to DVD, this is going to take some time, so I will probably be busy over the winter break :)

Added another print to my collection. I am not sure why I hesitated to purchase it for so long, as it does depict my favorite GTR livery. This evening when I unrolled it from its mailing tube it definitely impressed me. It's 13"x19", so not the largest, but the detail is great and the colors are very vibrant. Remembered couple of days ago, that I have bought about 10? years ago two Sports Car books. Both have been writed by same person, but second one is lagrer version including the classic sports cars also.
The stories are quite as same both, but the stories are quite detailed, not bad ones! XP3 has been mentioned and quite much compare GTR, LM and F1 together.

One of the biggest reason to buy these books have been the cover; McLaren F1 LM.

Good eye Sami - I was thinking that was the location too, which is great because Spa has been my favorite race track for quite a long time.

Yep, it's allmoust 99,9% or 100% sure, it's suppouse to be Spa, the last shikane before finnish straight. Atleast F1 races; "Braking about 300kmh to 70kmh" :lol2:

It's also one of my favorits, like Suzuka and Monza. :)

OK!
Nice to hear it wasn't totally old thing!
I bought these here at Finland. I don't know how often seen these are?

Anyway, there is similar image of Lamborghini Diablo SE30 at Goodwood, same background than #01R image; but different car. :eek7:

I remembered some other books past years what I have got when GTR McLarens were on the race tracks around the world.
These two books are Finnish motorsport releases 1995 and 1997. Every year this book will be released and there is everything what has been happended on motorsport by Finnish aspect. Why 1996 is missing, I have that also, but there is nothing (would you believe!) at J.J's achievements during BPR GT 1996! I have to check that again, but I remember, there wasn't really nothing. Nothing images or stories, but I'll check that.

But as you know, 1995 and 1997 were good times to GTR McLarens.

It has to be 26R from Mugello race as the coloring of the kerbs is different from other tracks they raced in FIA GT 1997 and also the aerodynamic setting on the front of the car is from the middle section of the season.

Finally got these at Christmas.

http://kuvablogi.com/nayta/prev/img2404226.jpg

1995 Le Mans VHS is the same, which can be seen at Youtube 6 different clips. Youtube version also has better sound quality, speciality track and car sounds are much better.

1996 BPR GT Series Season Preview was a small disapointmen, meaning the car and track sounds. It was very silent on that part, hardly can hear cars going past the camera. :sly: Maybe the reason is old technic, DVD is much more diverse.

But otherhand, there was many new things to me, Zhuhai, Suzuka, Paul Ricard..... Great to watch!
And I was quite supriced, how much misfortune actually McLaren's had, there was all kind of wheel problems and crashes, gearbox problems and so on. Even one engine blow out also, which must be rare case?!
And I did not remembered until I saw that, that Porsche 911 GT1 came to vissit there.

Anyway, really fantastic historic material, that reason I can recomend.

Finally I found this. I lost the CD somewhere an year ago, only covers were left. I have searched this from Amazon and else where, and finally found it and got it "back".

That one track was the reason;
GRAND TOURISME - A new Breath

Sound recording of FIA GT 1997 season, many GTR McLarens going past the recording place, and fast. Nice sounds! Also Ferrari F40 and V12 Ferrari F1 car sounds great!

Also found at EBAY an orginal images and singatures of Steve Soper and Andy Wallace. Of course; it's not so "great" thing to bought these. It would mean lot of more to me if I could got them my self at the pitlane. But allways can not got everything.
The J.J's singatured card I have had long time allready.
Steve won at Helsinki number #8 with J.J and and Wallace is big name of developing work of GTR's, atleast to me.

Le Man will be [finally] happy to see these images. I purchased this "McLaren" door sill kick plate from Ebay about a year and a half ago, and apparently outbid him in the process. Oops... :sorry:

He asked me for dimensions shortly after it arrived which I provided, but up until now I'd never taken the images of it I had offered to share. For quite a while I had it packed away, but he reminded me of his interest recently and so I went sifting through some boxes and here they are now:

You can see the piece is in fairly good shape. It has some light surface scratches in the brushed aluminum which is probably the reason it was replaced, but in my opinion there's really nothing wrong with a bit of patina like that. Apparently some of them get pretty mangled when they are removed, but this one just has a very slight bend at one end that I haven't bothered to fix. I am quite sure that the double-sided tape you see on the under side is simply the finest that there is too. ;)

The price was good, at £22 plus shipping, and it's a neat little piece. Not as cool as some other things I have, but I am glad to have gotten it. I'll have one additonal item to share images of tomorrow.

I suppose that is the West Competition 03R at BPR'95 Anderstorp without the usual West/East logos due to tobacco advertising ban in Sweden as well the aerodynamics of the front (after LM'95). In France (Paul Ricard, Le Mans and Nogaro) it still had the West written like from lego-bricks.

I would appreciate it very much if you could provide a better scan of it. Just the car! :naughty:
