timing chain broke

i have a 97 grand prix 3800 and was wondering if it is a interference motor?

The book says no, but I have seem 3800's ding valves.

do you know if there is an easy way to see if there is any bent valves? other than taking the heads off.

Put a new chain, gears, and tensioner on it and check compression.

You can probably get the gears, chain, and gaskets from ZZP for a decent price, although I have heard some quality ussues with rollmaster double rollers recently.

I believe it is not an interferance engine.The first year 3.8s,I believe in the front wheel drive cars were if a timing chain broke (1985)
