Ok my wife has a mitsubishi galant I know this won't endear anyone to me but I hate these cars I have had 2 of them so when her sister originally bought it I was freaking out. DOnt get me wrong they look nice have alot of pep but they are a pain in the butt to work on.

So just recently the car started stalling took it to the parts store and they told me the battery was dying, put it off and then she tells me it wont start go to car install new battery and it starts stalling out. So she gets it home I work on it today went after it figuring ignition problem replaced the spark plugs and air filter and now it wont start at all rechecked the plugs and they are covered in oil on the combustion chamber side as well as the wire side plus one is damaged after trying in vain to start this pos also the oil smelt sorta gasy. The only thing I can think is that there is either a head gasket problem, or that massive amounts of oil is getting past the piston. For you know what and giggles I cleaned the new spark plugs and reset the gap and still nothing.

Oh btw the starter is engaging so not the problem Please if you can help please do we cant afford to buy a new car right now.

You probably have really leaky plug seals because it is very rare for them to have a bad headgasket. The thing probably smelled gassy because you were cranking it and it wasn't starting. The cylinders were probably loaded up with gas. As for it stalling, you might check fuel pressure, compression and spark. There could be quite a few things that would cause this problem.
