Fuel problem - need advice

Hey out there. You all have been helpful especially to someone brand new to Grand Ams (the only other GM product I have owned was a 96 Suburban) so this is the deal. Changed the O2 Sensor (this is the car with the 96 engine in a 98 car) and took off down the road - 5 miles and it just died. No fuel.

When it cranks over the rear defrost light comes on. Is that normal? I tried the passlock security reset and that did not help. Before I replace a fuel pump ($250 for just the pump) I would like to make sure it is the pump.

There are plugs behind the tank above the axle and I am assuming those are the guage/pump wires. Can anyone confirm and tell me what wires should have power?

Also if the crank sensor is bad (had my bosses 98 Grand Cherokee with that problem BUT on that the fuel guage and pump did not work which saved me from changing a pup that did not need it!) what would be the sign of that.

I am NOT a mechanic by trade but I do what I can out of necessity and I really appreciate your help.

try turning the car to the on position and see if you can hear the pump turn on for a few seconds, that will confirm if the pump is working or not.

That was the very first thing that I did on the road when it quit.. I have checked all the fuses and relays and have tried the passlock reset and have verified no fuel pressure by pressing in on the schrader valve (where you would connect a pressure guage if you had one). Thanks.

remove the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator see if it has signs of fuel.

Grey wire is power for the pump.

F/P-INJR = 20 amp fuse in engine compartment.

It was the pump - the grey wire had power - replaced pump
