Transmission lines leaking

On my 2003 Montana with 92,000 miles, the top transmission line that goes into the radiator has recently started leaking. What is the best way to fix it?

Older lines use a flared fitting held into the radiator with a line nut. Sometimes, tightening up the fitting will fix the leak.
Other fittings use an O-ring. These fittings can be disassembled ad the O-ring replaced.

I have the o-ring style. I took the plastic sleeve off and popped the clip out. Then pulled the trans line out and there was no o-ring on the line or in the fitting to the radiator. So i cleaned the fitting out checked and rechecked for any sign of old o-ring and nothing. So i put a new o-ring on the line and it still leaks. Is there special kind of o-ring that goes on the line?

You can get just the fitting at the dealer and there is a special release tool to remove the lines which is much easier

Are you saying i need a new fitting? The line was easy to get out and didnt require a tool.

There is a special realese tool and I have the complete set,with the 3/8",1/2" and two 5/8" release tools which I bought from the Cornwell dealer that used come around in my area.Most parts stores will sell this special release tool for these Jiffy tite fittings as a set including any Mac,Matco,Cornwell and Snap On tool dealer.All you do is slide the plastic cap back and install this the special release tool (3/8 release tool) making sure it is seated in all the way and give the tool a twist (60 degrees) removing the line.This is the better and faster way than picking the clip out.The other option is to buy a new fitting from the dealer
