Noise at 70 mph

When I hit 68 or 70 mph and above in my 1998 Chevy Venture, I can hear a creaking or squeaking noise that comes from under the hood, maybe a foot from the windshield, and directly in line with my steering wheel. This squeak/chirp/creak is intermittent and seems to increase in sound and frequency the longer I am at the 68 mph or above speed. When I slow down it disappears.

This is frustrating. I can drive all day at 65 mph and below and never hear the sound, but as soon as I hit 68 or seventy it begins. Any ideas?

Also, I have had the suspension inspected and no signs of any problem. As I said the sound is intermittent and as no rhythmic pattern or predictability other than speed.

Thank you,

Make sure the hood hold open thing is secure in it's clip. Mine comes loose every now and then and it makes a noise like you described when the wind moves it up and down a little.

Thanks for the advice, I thought that it might be wind related. I was recently traveling along a 2 lane highway at 55 mph and whenever a large truck would blow by me I would hear the creak. I'll make sure that it is fastened and see if that does the trick.
