Timing Cover

I just bought a 94 Eclipse 1.8l, and I noticed it is missing the lower front timing cover. What has to be done in order to get a new one on and can it be done with motor in car? :frown:

You will probably have to remove some things like the mount on the passenger side and part of the head but I don't see why not.

It will be a pain, but you can do it. The bottom one is supposed to go on first, so you might have to take the top one off. No worries, its just a bunch of 10mm-head bolts. The lower cover has one bolt with an 8mm head. You don't have to take the engine mount off, but it might be nice so you can jack the engine up or down to get access to those bolts.

While you're in there, check for timing belt wear. DSMs are notorious for timing belt problems.

Thanks, I figured it out, went to the junk yard a got one of, pritty easy just take off the pulley's. But mine it will be on jack stands, with the cover already off, it looks like the belt is pretty new. Thanks
