Can anyone identify this car?

Hi, All

I was hoping someone could help me out. The car in the photo (that I hope you can see) was involved in an accident in the '40s in the USA. The driver was my girlfriend's great aunt and my girlfriend's keen to know what the car is.

I know very little about it and I can't identify it. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure it's a 1936 Dodge, (which is a morbidly ironic name under the circumstances.... :( )

Actually back then - the emblems on the car actually read "Dodge Brothers" My first car was a 1937 Model Business Coupe.

damn your older that I thought :D

only differences in the 2 I can see is that the newspaper one doesn't have a drivers side mirror (might just be from the wreck, and the windshield wipers on the newspaper on are on the bottom instead of the top. looks like the same type maybe a couple year different

Thanks, folks

It also looks like this Chevy

Hard to tell as there are few distinguishing marks visible in that shot.

Often, different American car makes ( up to WWII) shared many similar styling characteristics for any particular year.

So, the crashed car looks like many mid-thirties cars.
But if you look at the grille closely, it has a horizontal bar, which the Ebay Chevy does not have. Also, the Chevy's grille extends higher up the front end than the crashed car.

not the Ebay one, a lot of them do look similar though

My bets on the 1936 chrysler note the wipers and the lack of a mirror.

I would agree. It has the Mopar wheels and the split windshield. My dodge guess has a 1-piece windshield.
