hesitation

I'm sure I've read about this before, but my 05 GT (105k miles) hesitates and has very little light throttle powwer (kinda surges a little on light throttle application, especially on the freeway or on initial start in 1st gear). Turning the car off and then back on again and its good for maybe 2 or 3 more starts before it happens again. I've cleaned the throttle body (mostly to stop it from dying just after starting and it worked for that). I've got no check engine lights on, and no codes in the computer from my OBDII scanner. I thought maybe I had a bad coil but wouldn't that set a CEL, same thing with a misfire or bad spark plug? I think its something electrical, maybe with the PCM since restarting the car makes it go away instantly. Just thought I'd refresh the topic and see if anyone else out there has discovered a solution for this. I'm going to be doing the plugs and wires this weekend just as a preventative maintenace measure (just bought the car with 105k miles and no idea about previous history other than its pretty clean under the hood and spent alot of time on the highway). Thanks!

Spark plugs and/or ignition wires sounds good to start. Stock OE are only good to around 100K miles. Good luck!

that was my only hunch, started it 5 times today, worked great every time, tomorrow, who knows. Its just wierd that it doesn't happen every time and that there is no CEL from it, simply restarting the car cures it.

When was the last time the fuel filter has been changed? Mine 00 GP is starting to hesitate on initial startup or on the interstate when I need that burst of speed. I haven't changed mine in 1.5 years and its definitely due. Just something to check. Good Luck.

sadly, no external serviceable fuel filter on the Gen IV grand prix, its inside the fuel tank. I'm gonna feed it some injector cleaner and spray some electronics cleaner on the MAF, its been good 2 days in a row so heres hoping.
