another ABS/Trac thread

Hi, not to beat a dead horse but this is driving me crazy. My lights are on in the dash randomly when I drive and sometimes take a few restarts to clear. I had it scanned while in the shop for something else and the code did not point at a bad hub/sensor, but something about a battery failure/low voltage situation. I'm not sure the exact code but thats what the mechanic said. I inspected the harnesses to the front tires and noticed that my passenger side wire harness (the one clipped to the lower control arm) had been cut or broke at some point and then spliced back together. It was not wrapped together again well so I cut it and redid it. Then made sure to thoroughly re-wrap and insulate the splice. Problem seemed to go away for two days, then it came back when making a sharp turn today.
Could a bad battery be causing this? The battery in the car is not stock, the battery tray and battery hold down are missing and the battery is just sitting in there. I've cleaned the engine grounds and made sure they are also tight on the battery with no corrosion, DIC indicates 13-14v when the ar is running, and a multi meter shows 12.1v across the terminals with the car off. Car seems like it turns over slowly when it cranks but fires up in half a crank or so every time. Even when the lights are not on, the ABS will occasionally do its "test" cycle (like when you first start the car) at slow speeds while turning, like in a parking lot. The ABs has also triggered when slowing down and turning (less than 10mph) on dry pavement when I know there is no slipping. Is there a good way to test for my ABS brake module being bad? just no way to pinpoint this and its really all thats wrong with the car. Sorry for the long post, let me know what you think.

Sounds like you have a speed sensor dropping out at slow speeds and maybe another problem. The speed sensor dropping out is not unusual. A scan tool and a test drive will get you closer to a resolution.

You need to get your battery secured down as well. Not a good plan to leave it loose like that.

Also could be a wire harness issue also.

I left a battery unsecured one time. Needless to say it slid over against the belt and promptly got a hole ground into the case...................Not a good plan. Didn't hear it and it only took about 6 blocks.
