1998 continental clunking sound

Hi there,
I've got a, hopefully, easy question. My wife's car, a 1998 Conti, started making a clunking sound, front and back, just recently. It happens when pulling out of the driveway and when driving down the road. My guess is the struts. My question is whether this seems likely considering the clunk just came out of the blue at the end of summer. By the way, this car has about 75,000 miles on it and was purchased from an elderly couple just last summer (2008) with only 53,000 miles on the clock. It is a real possibility that the factory parts are still living on the car.

Thanks for any replies,

Doug
