Ok by now everyone knows I've been working on this 92 GA SE which was given to me. She has had alot of problems but just about all done. And thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way. Now the latest is I can pull down on the steering wheel or move it around sort of speak. It has tilt and that is in the locked position. Now idea why or how to fix. Any ideas?? I had a Camaro that did the same thing???

up under the kick panels you'll see a couple metal brakets holing up the steering column.
Those have came loose or someone didnt tighten it up when doing some sort of repairs.
Or the swivle type joint in the tilt part is damaged.
Hopefull they screws/bolts just need tightend. If somethings broke, that's a saftey hazzard!
let me know how it looks.

The swivle joint is what is moving around. What all do I need to do to get to it??

If the swivle is broken it'll need replaced, though not sure if you can buy just that part.
Sometimes one of the pins just fall out and you can pop it back in with a punch & hammer.
To get to this you'll need to pull the steering wheel and remove all the covers on the column to access the joint. Your 92 doesnt have an air bag, so that makes it a little safer to tear into. And you may need to lower the column from the mount I expained in my previous post.
Other then that, it's a real PITA to get to the swivle. :(
And let me know how it turns out, or if you have other problems.

Hey no problem on the delay, I just appreciate that you responded. Sorry to here about your car.
Well I finally drove my GA for the first time after taking possesion of it and am pretty happy. A couple things left to do, oil leak, horn don't work and ,aybe some new tires. But a big thing is my speedo is acting up badly. Most of the time it don't work but then it will shoot it then fall back down. Then it might try to come up then back down. I did replace the speed sensor because I had a fault for that. Have any idea what it is? Could it be the cluster or something to do with the speed sensor??
Thanks so much for your help, still got to look at the steering column
