LeSabre Makeover

In my signature below you see my 98 LeSabre with a cloth top and luggage rack on the trunk lid..

As the car approaches 13 years old the cloth around the rear windshield has become weather beaten and ripped.....The luggage rack itself has lost some of the chrome paint off of one corner.

My question is......Would An auto body shop be able to remove the cloth top and luggage rack and do a full body paint job to make it look like a new car minus the old cloth top and rack?

Why not put new cloth top on? Or, have it fixed? I have friends who work with that kind of stuff and they can fix stuff you don't see how it can be.

I prefer the car not have it.

yes a body shop would do it just fine remove he top sand the glue off and paint just replace the deck lid from a scrap yard will save on cost

You (nor a body shop) can not fill the screw holes on the trunk lid where they will not be visible after a short period of time. Sanding the glue off the roof is a major job and would require as much work as sanding the rest of the body. $$$ Anyway, if you decide to go for it, she should look similar to the PA I bought a few months back. Every option available, except sunroof! :smile: Pics below:

I have pulled off a few vinyl roofs. The GM factory ones seem to take ages to get all the adhesive off.
But aftermarket ones...... like this one..... are not so difficult. Chances are, you will find perfect factory paint under the cloth and the adhesive will come off with some acetone and scrubbing, leaving intact paint.
