What is boost spike?

What is boost spike im pretty new to technical terms with turbochargers and have been reading alot of forums with people talking about boost spike and i just cant figure out what it is so if n e one can give me the run down that would be great. Thanx

boost spike

if you have your boost set to 10 and it goes up to 12.
