Brake Upgrade

OK so i'm trying to get brakes ans suspension done before winter hits?
I've figured out the suspension for the most part just need to get it ordered.
Now the brakes all around and upgrades... Been looking at the Brembo, The KSport things along those lines.. any type of input?
Also I noticed the 94+ have bigger brakes I have a 93 Vr4 would they fit and is it that much of a difference to be a good upgrade? I know the rotors are about .75 bigger ?
And what about just getting preformance brakes .. like DBA or Stillen or Hawk?
I'm looking to use the car for normal driving but also for the strip once in awhile and possibly try out the whole motorcross.... any input would be great
Thanks

Honestly, stock sized Brembo blanks with good pads will be more than enough.

Brembo blanks?

A blank rotor is one with no slotting or drilling.

go to ips motorsports, they have em. hurry cuz last time i ordered they told me they were gonna discontinue them soon...also another good reason to get blanks, if later when u need pads or the rotor warps for some reason, u can get blanks resurefaced...u cant get drilled or slotted ones resurfaced.
as for pads let steathee help u on those im not much of an expert on pads...theres alot to choose from.
as for suspension...megan has nice coilovers and ksports not bad for the buck either. i think supercarengineering hasthe bes prices, or pricematchedparts. and dont forget upper an lower sway bars if u plan on going to the moto track in the future.

Then I would highly recommend you save the brake money and buy a motox bike. ;)
As for brake pads I recommend Hawk.

Hmm very true when it comes to resurfacing them... but aren't the drill and slotted rotors better for disapating heat better so they dont warp?
I've heard good things about Hawk pads also was looking at them along with diff rotor types? what about teh calipers stock is fine?
And i'd love a bike but really jsut don't trust myself on one haha

im four wheels all the way...
about the rotors, the slots and drills were origanaly designed disaptate gases when the old style pads got really hot. when they got hot they would produce a gas that would get in between the pad and rotor..they were not designed for heat dissapation. with blanks there is more metal to grab onto the pad as well as more metal to absorb heat, therefor blanks good quality blanks r usually the way to go (brembo)
now ive heard that the slots and drills r a scam, but ive read up and thats not entirly true, they do provide better heat tolerances for the rotor as a whole when there is some type of cooler avaiable. there r no kits for our cars but ive heard of some jerryrig kits out there. basically it funnel outside air to the rotors and calipers to cool them a bit.
anyways for ur case, and most 3s go blanks......and the stock calipers will be fine, in the 90s they were one of the best rated cars for braking.
good luck

Slots and rotors are gimmicks. Rotors are a large heatsink. Less metal equals less cooling abilities.

yep, like i said they were originally designed that way for the old pads that would produce gasses wen they got hot. but new pads dont do that....get blanks bro

Well built (expensive) proper crossdrilled rotors cool faster. Less metal + More Surface Area = Cooler

While your physics are correct it's a trade off. Does the rotor cool fast enough to offset the fact that it doesn't hold as much heat? I don't think so. There's a reason no form of racing using cross drilling.

Not exactly. As stated rotors are a giant heatsink. Less rotor equals more heat to the rest of the rotor.

I'll look into it more but you are telling me the $15k+ brake kits on the exotics are for nothing? As I said, I'll take a look into it but I see no way that proper drilled rotors don't cool more effectively.

Think about it this way.
If drilled rotors were better, don't you think racing series would use them? ;)
When it comes to the exotics you are paying more for the caliper and large rotor than the cross drilling.
EDIT: Brembo actually has a warning on their cross drilled rotors that they are not intended for track use. That right there should tell you they are an appearnce thing, and not a performance thing.

thats exactly what e r teling u, lol. seriously tho SOMEtrack cars may use them, but mainly for looks, i think everyones in agreement theat drilled rotorslook badass, but performance wise no..remeber its not just heat disapation...the pad has to grab the rotor...so less surface area=less friction for pad to grab=less braking power.
on a side note....theres alot of things on exotics that r for nothing...

So when looking for new brake rotors what attributes should you look for to know they are quality rotor? Materials? Thickness? Or what? Cause I have been looking around and I mean prices range from $35-180 so far and nobody can give me any info about them except they fit the car and the brand. And don't get me wrong I will spend the money for better stopping power but how do I tell? By the way where do you guys order brakes from? M local pepboys will sell me a set of ceramic EBC redstuff pads for $77 but the matching rotors are like $170 a peice I know you guys like hawks but their ceramic pads will cost me 40 more because I would have to order online and pay shipping and I can't seem to find the rotors you spoke of at all

try ipsmotorsports....google em. not sure on thw website. best thing is to call em. and talk to em....i dunno if ur rides tt or na (im on mobile), but i no they have some for the na's, blanks is what u need definetly, brembos have a greast compond and u can use whatever pads fit ur needs. hawks r great, but expensive.
basically,, get brembo blanks.....hawk pads......thats a good setup. if ur na and want better braing look toward doing a vr4 brake upgrade

Its been stated time and time again the VR4 brake upgrade is unnecessary. I have run the hell out of my car on many twisty mountain roads and not once had an issue because of having NA brakes.
Not only is it unnecessary it slows you down due to rotational mass.
