I'm impressed by their attention to detail in converting the model from an LM to the GTR. It wasn't exactly "simple" to do. Appears it has the cross-eyed driving lights on the front bonnet too. I do think they should have gone with the Lehto flat bottom steering wheel though.

CollectorStudio.com has pricing and a few details, similar to the LMs:
Here is the model McLaren F1 owners & enthusiasts have been hoping for - a large scale replica of the fantastic "Ueno Clinic" car that won the 1995 Le Mans. Each 1/8 scale handbuilt model is 23" long and complete with carbon fiber base and case cover.
The price is CAN$6250 / US$5650 / €3975 + shipping.
You can read more about this model here:
http://www.collectorstudio.com/index.cfm/ID/16/itemID/4022/details/1?cl=
This model hasn't been added to the hi-res Gallery on Amalgam's site yet, but I am really looking forward to seeing those images.

^^^ was waiting for that one... :grinyes:
Actually, I don't see a reverse light on the model, but #01R does have a pair of red lenses mounted up in those locations:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/mclarenf1gtr.jpg
The strategically placed block of wood confirms your comment about the handbrake, if there was any question.
Now, is that tread I see on those tires? ;) They were on the car when you saw it at ASI as well, and do appear to be a rain tire. That's certainly fitting as without the showers that fell in those 24 Hours (and the amazing Finn behind the wheel) it is a safe bet that #01R wouldn't be quite so special.

I regress on the comment I made, reference reverse/ fog lights :chair:
If they are rain tyres, do they have the exact tread patern?
But come on "HANDBRAKE CALIPERS ON A RACECAR" :banghead::banghead::banghead:
One last thing, they have carried over the LM,s OZ wheels, the 95 GTR,s have wider spoke sections.
Little details I know, but its the attention to detail that makes the difference. But like the LM model its these flaws that spoil an otherwise exceptional model.

Not far off indeed, Erik.
My apologies, it just looked a bit disproportionate to what I had in my 'mind's eye'.
It's just a pity that there are a few anomolies in this model, but I'm sure that it's one impressive beast in the flesh. It's just sad anoraks like us that will pore over the nuances I'm sure. ;) The lucky bast .. sorry ... owners won't care too much, I'm sure!

If you mean the resin built 1/12 GTRs (10R, Marlboro's, Lark #60, white Gulf, Ueno #59) and LMs (orange, black, white) they were made by MWS = Model Work Shop. Collector Model Studio only sells them like Raccoon and Romu in Japan.

Yes, both the same (Amalgam 1:8 model).
Also Model Work Shop should have made it in 1:12 - the images below so you can decide which is the better:

For the price of an Amalgam model you could buy 4 of these!

Yep, I remember that quite recently EBAY had couple of Model Work Shop's GTR's on sale. First one was about 1000$ and second one, Marlboro livery was 1400$.
So this Amalgam's model is 3300-3500£ about.
These images can't say really sure, which one is better. But I have heard that Model Work Shop's models are very good also, even they are smaller than this 1/8 model.
Small EDIT:
There you go, Model Work Shop's #01R (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-12-ModelWorkShop-Mclaren-F1-GTR-Ueno-Clinic-Night-Ver_W0QQitemZ110470849232QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_Def aultDomain_0?hash=item19b89362d0)
EDIT: Hmmm it's now sold.... I wonder if .....:jerking:
