Some of you might remember my first thread about this great car, anyway here it is, 100% completed.

modifications includes :
1. seatbelts, PE buckles and fabric belts
2. an antenna.

I had to go through a lot of putty I'm telling you! :D

Some progress pictures are available here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=94634&perpage=15&pagenumber=2)

The engine bay. A bit boring, built right outta box. I'm not a detail freak.

I want to show you the underside. It's quite unusual don't you think?

It's true, and I've noticed something about this car, every time I have guests or friends at my house they all seems too be attracted to this particuliar car, even when it wasn't completed I always heard comment like, "Woah that's a nice car", "What is it? I love it".

I even caught my wife this morning, she was checking it out before we went to work. :D :D :D That's saying a lot, All the married folks in here know what I'm talking about!

For me it's the color. I just love red and white.

Excellent build and photography 'Kid - I like!

There are guys around who seem to bulid nothing but 956s and 962s. There are literaly hundreds of variation on these cars.

Ground effects venturis - would've been no flying Merc CLRs if these were still legal.

I was refering to the licorice candy stripes-colors (hehe) but you certainly caught my attention, what is ground effect venturis? And why it's not legal anymore?

Thanks!

Oh okay. Yes I guess the different coulours are a lot of work for something that doesn't get seen much!

Ground effects are a technique that uses the airflow under the car to generate downforce. A great idea as it doesn't introduce any extra drag in the process. Unfortunately, like all good ideas, it makes the cars too fast and gets banned. Sportscars and F1 (sorta) now have a flat bottom rule which can actually generate lift in the wrong circumstances, resulting in a number of flying Porches, Audis and the aforementioned Mercs over the past few years.

Does anyone have real life picture of this car?

It's group C car no 14 of 1985 Le Mans 24H.

(thanks for the explanation RallyRaider)
