Clunking noise while driving

2002 Grand Am GT, There is a distinct clunking noise while driving over uneven pavement or small bumps at low speeds. I also noticed that the right fender has less clearance to the wheel than the left side. Is this just a sign of worn shocks?

Check for a broken spring , stabilizer link or strut mount.

Hello Houdude your thread has been moved to the GA forum.

And I would agree with the spring, strut or the top mount and or bearing plate, on your right side.

most likely your upper strut mount Assembly. they run about $50 bucks if I'm remembering right. and its not to bad of a job. there is a way to see if this is at least part of the problem if not the whole problem. when you pop your hood on each side where the top of the struts bolt up there will usually be a black rubber or plastic round cover over the top of the strut. just pry it up with a flat head and if you see lots of loose rubber shavings then this is your problem.
