The speedometer in my 1994 Blazer is pinned at 85 mph and does not work. Before I pull the dash apart and start to inspect it would anyone on AF recommend a possble place to start prior to tearing it down and inspecting-?

is it electronic or cable driven? could be unplugged or partially unscrewed at the trasfercase..... not sure if it would stay pinned or not though.... just a thought

I Appreciate thoughts it beats tear down- however, I did look at transfer case intac and looks good- Its not electronic but cable driven-I'm clueless but sounds like I will have tear down anyways just thought someone could help before-Thanks :)

The speedo is broken. You can get a replacement pretty easily from junkyards. It is a little work to get it out when you haven't done it before but you can do it yourself. I found it easier to loosen the steering column and let is hang down which makes it easier for the instrument cluster to come out.
