chrome strip coming loose

The chrome strip that runs down the side of my Explorer is coming loose & is about half off. Is there a particular type of glue I should use, to glue it back in place?

What year is your Explorer? Does it look like the strip was previously held on with 2-sided tape or glue? There are automotive 2-sided tapes available as well as automotive trim adhesives, and what would suit your need best is likely what was used originally. Of course you'll need to clean off the old residue as best you can if you want the new adhesive to stick well. Acetone applied by a rag/old sock would work well for cleaning the surfaces if you don't rub too hard. Be sure to let it evaporate away completely before applying the new adhesive.

I don't recall seeing chrome strips on Explorers and neither my 2000 or 2004 Mountaineers had them, so I'm not visualizing what they look like or how they attach.

The strip I'm talking about isnt an actual chrome strip. It is a little silver strip that runs down both sides of the vehicle, covered with a small strip of clear plastic. Anyways I was able to use weather stripping adhesive to glue it back in place.
