This is one of the two projects I'm working on at the moment. The built will be OOB so no PE or resin. Why? Well this is a bike that I'm doïng for my club to take on events. So hopefully this will be a quick built.

The bodywork has been sanded, primed and sprayed blue. I've also sprayed a mist coat of clear in preparation of the decals.

Some other parts have been primed at the moment.

This was my fourth build, like seven years ago or so. I'm very fond of the livery and you seem to have made a great start with the cowls. I'll stay tuned.

What a feelings I'm having here...
I build four yamahas like that during my life when I was 9 A couple are in my "box of stock parts" (Which the majority are useless) and the others that were build when I was 15 are dismantled to be repaired and improved in the future.

Hope to see more of that bike soon.
Roca.

I couldn't resist in using some other parts then provided in the kit.
So for this built I'll be using the brand new products from Geronimo Works; The Michelin rain tyre set and cold weather brake discs.

At the moment I've modified the rims of the YAMAHA 2005 but they will be replaced by the YAMAHA YZR-500 ones later on.

For now only the tyres are ready. The discs are in progress. Enjoy!

It's fantastic to see the results of the work Geronimo done there with the tyres... what can I say? those are a master parts.

I'm also interested in which color is used to paint the tyres.

Before I start, I would say that a lot of credit goes to Geronimo for making these amazing tyres.

For the painting I used a little technique called drybrushing.

I used following steps; primer, gloss black, decals, mat varnish, drybrushing antracite black, a little wash of paynes grey on the decals.

I hope this will help.

Does anyone know if these tyres were used back in the days, meaning 2001?

I think I read somewhere that they are 2004 and later but I'm not totally sure. I don't care though...

very cool !!! i really like the blue colour of yours
i am wondering what blue is it that you are using?
cause it seemed more beautiful, sharper than mine.

Since you're building Shinya Nakano's while mine is Olivier Jaques'. Surely it'll be awesome if we could put our build side by side and take pics of them ^^ (mission impossible :iceslolan)

Hello,

I've been working on the bike for a few days now, mostly putting cf on it.

Here some pictures. Some parts are already cleared, other are still to do
For the yellow I used a tamiya spray can.
For the seat I used structure paint from tenco.
Enjoy.

There is no technique involved. I used structure paint from tenco. You can choose between light grey and black. Just spray it on the object you want from about a distance of 20 cm and let it dry for a while.

The more layers you spray, the more structure you will get. If wanted, you can spray a colour on it afterwards.

Wow i really thought you used microballons or something else. Doesn't look like paint at all. Great job, i still need to get some of that scalemotorsport spray paint.

Not to get too off topic, but is there another option here in the states for "structured" paints? I've used the SMS stuff, but it's expensive and not the best results. Thoughts?

I have no idea. I used Tenco. I think this is a Belgian product but I'm not sure. It costs 15 Euro for 0.5 l spray can.

Ketje,

I wouldn't expect you to know, given you're not here in the states! Just thought some of the other guys might know...

Like the bike! Just got a pitwalk guide for this bike, so I might just have to pick one up on the cheap somewhere. Keep up the good work!

I've been working on the bike for some days and made some progress.
After building a fully detailed M1, this straight from the box YZR500 is a lot of fun to build.
I hope this build will prove that it is also possible off making a nice model straight from the box. The only thing added is the CF decal.

I have the engine mounted in the frame after it received a wash.
