P & G question

If you choose to obey the law where you live and not cut your engine off while coasting will you get better mileage by gliding with the engine running or just holding the throttle steady at a constant speed. Ive read that P&G works best at 30-40 mph. My metro is fuel injected.

I used to do all kinds of tricks like engine off coasting and pulse and glide and was able to get 60+ MPG doing so. But driving my Metro normally still gets me around 50 MPG and I figure I would use those tricks if I was driving a gas hog, but not a fuel miser. I shut it down if it's going to be a while...30 seconds or longer...I usually can bump start it in 4th gear just before I stop to save the battery. Basically, if you don't need the engine, don't burn the gas...Johnny Mullet is correct with his MPG figures...I'm getting about the same.
