Hey all i have a buddys 1999 taurus with a chirping sound from the engine around where the idler and tensioner pulleys are located. ive replaced both of these with no luck. still chirping. I does it when your driving or sitting. i spray kroil in those suspected areas and it gets quiet for a split second then gets louder then goes to a soft chirp again. possible water pump bearing? Ive heard something about a cam sensor causing this. has anyone had this same issue and how bad is it to change? any ideas would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

A lot of people have had issues with the Camshaft Position Sensor and synchronizer. Try searching the Taurus forum for "Synchronizer" keyword.

As for the chirp, did you replace the belt when you changed the pulleys? Since you describe the sound as a "soft chirp" and the noise temporarily goes away when sprayed with kroil (what is that?) I wonder if you're searching for a belt noise.

Enter "30-52600" into the Google search engine block and you'll retrieve more about fixing the CPS than anyplace I've found.
