Another new owner...

Think I just struck a deal for a 2000 GTS. Have yet to see the car in person but it sounds like it's pretty well maintained with very low hours on the chassis. Looking forward to getting it in a week or two and checking it out.
Buying it for track days/HPDEs. Been doing them for nearly 15 years with my various street cars but last summer (after 15 years with no "incidents") I ended up putting my Z06 in a tirewall at VIR (a really stupid driver mistake on turn 6 or so heading into short straight leading to the uphill esses). Car will get fixed but I've lost my enthusiasm for the expenses associated with driving a very fast street car on the track and also the lack of a full cage etc.
Will post some pics for everyone when I get it. Looking forward to having the owners on this site as an added resource to the great guys over at Panoz. Live in Charlotte NC and like to go to VIR, CMP, Roebling etc.

Welcome aboard, but what's wrong with R A, great track and everyone gets along very well and is willing to help when the Ox is in the ditch.

Boy can I relate to that. Got out of my 996 and into a GTS for just those reasons. Welcome to the board.

I think there are a number of Z06 owners with these cars. Based on what I've heard, you'll find this car much more economical to maintain, ie. no replacing rotors every event. This car is by far the best money I've spent on the car hobby.

RA was first track I ever drove on. Well before they started adding all the concrete barriers. Love the track, hate the concrete. Now with a dedicated track car, I'd be more willing to go back. Bad enough hitting a tire wall with a street car.....

Yeah, I'm looking forward to getting it sorted/figured out and getting back into things. Other than 2 24 Hours of Lemons events, I haven't been on a track in nearly 18 months. The Z was definitely not cheap to run on the track but it was fast as heck and relatively easy to drive fast (except for that very last session.... but I was going relatively slow when all hell broke loose). Hope this car is as fun (even if in a different way). Heck, I had fun driving our 1985 944 in 24 hours and it never made it through a full day.

How did you like the Lemons - we are actually talking about doing it this year.
(Maybe a team of Panoz Drivers) :p

It's a lot of fun though both times we did it we ended up with DNF due to mechanical problems. They put on a good show though. I'd do it again in a heart beat. Key is run steady with no penalties and find a reliable car (perhaps an oxy moron when dealing with a $500 car). Highly recommend the experience. Our team is already planning for the spring event.

Picked up the car today. Early 2000 model GTS (chassis 35 if I recall correctly) but only 118 hours on chassis. Drove 20 hrs there/back through the smokey's yesterday and today to get it and and am travelling next few days so won't really have time to even take it out of the trailer to check it out more fully until Sunday (rats!). Seems to be in very nice shape though I'm sure it could use some normal maintenance.

can't wait to see it, we'll have to get you out there with Devin and I at VIR.
Did you crash at a Tarheel event? yellow vette?

Did you pick the car up in Indiana? Black/silver red stripe?
If that's the car I saw it on e-bay. Looked like a pretty good car & deal.
I'm a new owner too!
Hope you enjoy your car, I mean Panoz....

That's the one. Yeah, I think it was a good deal but time will tell. It's pretty clean. I bid not expecting to win. Was surprised when I checked the computer and found out I'd won at that price.

Yellow vette's must be accident prone. Yes, mine is yellow but it was at a Chin event last summer at VIR.
