my Venture was pulled out of the road with a chain and while being pulled the back passenger side brake line was broken..my husband fixed the brake line with a 3/16" adapter the auto parts store recommended..well the line is fixed put now we can not get the brakes bleed..any suggestions?

The bleeder screw is on the back of the drum. I take it you can't get the screw to turn? Its common that these freeze up. The normal thing is to replace the wheel cylinder when that happens. The cylinder needs replaced when it starts to leak and that happens around 150k miles in my experience so you are going to have to do this anyway at some point. Its not hard to change and the cylinder is $20-30 bucks.

He replaced the steel line and had to use a 3/16" adapter to get it to fit in on one end or another?

Did he get the bleeder screw to open up?

Does he have any fluid coming out the bleeder?

Did he take the bleeder all the way out to see if it is plugged with debris (this happens quite a bit)?

Did he have somebody push down on the pedal with the bleeder open?

no he didn't change the whole line he just put the adapter on each end then screwed them together, he said that is what the autoparts store told him to do..Yes he did get the bleeder screw to turn and did get fluid out but the brake pedel still goes all the way to the floor when you pump it up the pedal gets stiff then the pedal goes to the floor when the bleeder turns..long story short the pedal goes to the floor.

The pedal is supposed to go to the floor with the bleeder open.
